The Impact of Media: Teaching Teens to Think for Themselves

by Susan M. Novick

The_Impact_of_Media__Teaching_Teens_to_Think_for_Themselves_photoIt was very interesting when i past by this blogg were it started off talking about media and some statistic about how much time kids spend on it etc. Ater the 2nd paragraph i understood that the women writting about how media "the media tells them that drugs are cool, sex happens all the time and at an early age, and that violence is acceptable behavior", it made me realize that there is many parents out there which are blind of all the good things that media can do as inform. It impressed me that all what this women was commenting was negative. A fellow wise person came by when i was posting and comment," when a person is posting about how to parent kids, most likely they don't know what they are talking about, no one really knows" it made me think that no one really knows how to be parents since know one thought them how to, so at the end of the day susan M.Novick is not so bad, she is just a close minded.

Blackberry... Addictive?

Why do Blackberry users get so addicted? Five reasons..

523 blackberry-post3.jpgIt has gotten to a point were kids and parents no longer socialize physically, but they communicate at all time through the black berry messenger that "the company blackberry" provides. There are 5 main reasons why Anna Leach the author of this article states different reasons of why it is so addictive.
1) Blackberries make noise by default and they push notify by default. It's hard to switch either of those things off.
2) Blackberry Messenger - there are apps for this on iPhone, but Blackberry has had instant messaging built in from the start. IM your fellow Blackberry owners for free in this fast-paced ping-ping-a-go-go. It works whenever you and your friends' Blackberries are on - which is like, all the time right?
3) Let's not just examine the phone, the users are important too: Blackberry users are probably the sort who want to be pinged all the time. Probably if they don't check their email for 10 minutes they'll have lost out on a massive oil/property/lunch deal
4) Habit, if you start checking and sending email every 5 mins, people expect you to check and send email every 5 mins and start to think things are wrong if you haven't responded in 10. It's a hard habit to break.
5) Blackberry is a status symbol. Whatever other handset owners may think, Blackberries still say high-powered, serious business-person in-demand and Blackberry-owners like to flaunt that by taking it out and waving it around. Proof? there's a facebook group called: "I have a BlackBerry, I'm out of your league".
It is clear, and we all know that technology is becoming every time stronger and it is taking over our lives. It is important that you separate time to what is really important, family since even you think you are interacting with them all day it is never the same.

After reading this article on CNN about
Child eating disorders on the rise
I have notice that not only eating disorders have increased yet the age of little girls and boys you have this diseases has increased, moreover this means that younger kids are concerning themselves of how they look and what they eat. In my point of view their parents tend to ignore, or they don’t pay enough attention to their kids because they are too busy, "working" etc. In my point of view there is no excuse for this to be happening, parents must be on top of their kids, no matter how busy they are.

The case of Jessica is very impacting, and thus all you must need to watch it so that you get a better sense of what is happening around us.
